School and Nursery Classes

Our school and nursery classes fit within the early year’s framework and link to key learning objectives in Key Stages One and Two. They provide children with lots of opportunities to develop physically, emotionally and mentally.

Combine this with the fun and interactive storytelling, yoga and sensory play, this class will be an all-round hit!

Give children the opportunity to put that mental load down

Our classes give children the chance to put that mental load down. To connect back into being a child.

To truly know that they are not their behaviour, their grades, or how well they perform. For a little while, they can let go of the need to please. Just be.

Here, they get to have fun. To feel happy in the now, with who they are rather than what they do. It is a small chance to feel their feelings, and to be heard, held and respected in that. A little pocket of calm in a busy week, where they catch a glimpse of how marvellous it is to sit with oneself, quiet and reflective.

A taste of connection to something deeper and wider than ourselves. Our families, our friends. That larger thing which has so many names, and which can only really be felt in those precious moments of stillness.

Our kids’ classes weave together yoga, breathwork, sound work, visualisation, storytelling and sensory play. Practised through the first twelve years of life, this can be truly beneficial. Mindfulness, breathing and relaxation become second nature. A natural response to life’s tricky moments, helping a child move through difficult feelings rather than becoming stuck in them.

Classes are adapted to the age of the children, running between thirty minutes and one hour. They can be run back to back, so more children have the chance to benefit from this work.

The benefits of yoga for children

Yoga helps children manage their anxiety

The breathing exercises and relaxation techniques learned from practicing yoga can help children with stress management. Teaching children how to reduce stress in a healthy way is an important life skill that will help them as children and as adults.

Yoga develops children’s strength and flexibility

Yoga helps strengthen children’s growing bodies and helps them improve their flexibility, which can reduce their chance of injury.

Yoga improves children’s emotional regulation

It helps children learn to be in the present moment while relaxing and gaining a peaceful state of mind, which ultimately improves their emotional regulation.

Yoga enhances children’s concentration and memory

The different types of moves require children to focus and work on their memorisation skills—both of which can translate over into their academic performance.

Yoga teaches discipline and reduces impulsivity

Yoga can reduce challenging behaviour in the classroom by providing a physical outlet for children to express themselves. It also teaches children about discipline as they work on clearing their minds and perfecting their poses.

Yoga increases children’s body awareness and mindfulness

Going through a variety of yoga poses helps children learn about their bodies and the movements they’re capable of doing.

Yoga boosts children’s self-esteem

Yoga for kids can do wonders for their self-esteem. Perfecting a pose or improving their balance and flexibility can give young children a sense of personal empowerment.
